were aimed at maintaining the faded power of the latter to the calamity of our country and to the misery of our people. I, as the General in charge of Chiu Chow and Mui Yuen, am bound to safe-guard my territory.

In order to strengthen the foundation of our Northern Expedition, and to remove all obstacles in its way; to carry out the instructions of our Farty so as to fulfil our duty as revolutionary soldiers; to accom- plish the object of our late Generalissimo which was to punish rebels and remove evil and not to disappoint the Government which trusts us; and not to allow disaster to be brought on our people again, I am marching out with my troops to deal with Chau Yan Yan and Cheung Ngai who are

Fu's vultures and jackals. All you soldiers are members of the revolutionary army and disciples of our late President. You should all realise that our military operation against Fukien is unavoidable - a grave and serious problem, and that as our Northern Expedition took Wu-chang only after great sacrifice, we at the rear should do our utmost to consolidate Kwong Tung so as to preserve the morals of our men at the front. Therefore in declaring out intention to punish Chau of Fukien, we have a grave and serious duty and object, which does not differ in any way from those of our comrades engaged in the Northern Expedition. For both armies have the same end in view to strengthen the basis of our National - iat revolution, to overthrow militarism, to establish

a united Nationalist Government, to bring about the realisation of the 3 Democratic Principles of our President and to gain freedom and equality for our country. Here

is indeed a great opportunity, greater than any hich

have occurred in the past 1,000 years, for us to take

part in a war of unsurpassed glory. All our soldiers should

realise this and take no heed of danger or death.
